Meet the Drug-Free World Los Angeles Team!

Koko Tabibzadeh, President

Koko has been volunteering with the Foundation since 2012 when she read articles about teenagers and kids actually dying after their first drug use. She realized that youth must not know what drugs really are and the effects they are capable of creating; otherwise, so many wouldn’t use them. She understands that kids tend to believe what they hear from their “friends” or social media, even if these things are blatant lies.

She is committed to spreading the facts and the truth about drugs, which will allow youth to make up their minds based on factual information. She knows that kids need to have the right information to make the right decision and the Truth About Drugs materials are the best to do that.

Koko is available to lecture to students, parents and teachers. She will also work fairs and festivals, providing the free Truth About Drugs educational material which includes DVDs, booklets, posters, activity ideas, and more. She is also certified to teach the Drug-Free World Education Specialist course to teachers and counselors who would like to become certified to deliver the program.

Koko is dedicated to helping youth made the decision of a lifetime – to live drug-free.

Cathy Morfopoulos, Director of Community Outreach and Fundraiser

Cathy is fueled by a passion to give kids a change to grow up drug and alcohol free. It was for this reason she joined the ranks of the Los Angeles Chapter of the Foundation for a Drug-Free World several years ago. She works with members of the interfaith community, coordinates with local police and neighborhood councils to bring workable solutions to the community.

Using the Truth About Drugs program in the many cities of LA county has also given assistance to like-minded groups such as “Rethinking access to Marijuana”, (RAM). This is an LA coalition devoted to protecting youth from drug abuse. Cathy is also a member of the Soroptimists International, Artists for a Better World and her Block Captain for the Glendale Police Dept.

Cathy explains, “I have found that the mayors and council members do want to improve their cities and prevent drugs and alcohol from damaging individuals and families. The Truth about Drugs Program allows me to help local leaders to implement changes for the better!”
